Materials We Work With

Joining Metals has the capability to work with virtually any commercially available metals. Throughout our tenure in the industry, we've witnessed the advancement of technology and successfully processed a wide range of metals. From commonplace steels to various specialty coated and uncoated materials, we have expertise in cutting all types of alloyed steel, stainless steels, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials.

Mild Steel 24 GA to 1/2"

Joining Metals stocks A1011/1018 CS Type B Hot Rolled Sheet (also known as ASTM A1011) in thicknesses ranging from 16 GA up to 1/4" thick. This product is a hot rolled commercial quality steel suitable for many applications.

General Characteristics of A1011:

  • Excellent formability
  • High strength
  • Can be bent at room temperature

Joining Metals Also stocks ASTM A36 hot rolled steel plates in 3/16", 1/4", 5/16" and 1/2" thicknesses.

A36 is a structural quality mild carbon steel. It provides enhanced strength, formability, and excellent welding properties, which make it suitable for complex applications that require welding, fabricating, and bending.

Typical Uses of A36 plates includes but not limited to: Base Plates, Bridge Plates, , Column Base Plates, Fabricating, Gusset Plates, Welding, Bending and Cold Forming, Grinding, Machine Frames, Press Platens, Punching, Tooling Plates, Drilling and Machining Processes

We also stock Cold Rolled sheets from 24ga up to 16 GA, typical size is 60"x 120", as well as a variety of tight tolerance shim stocks, and spring steel

Stainless Steel 24 GA to 3/8"

Stainless steel is a steel alloy that contains a minimum of 10.5% to 11% chromium content and a maximum of 1.2% carbon. Stainless steel does not readily corrode, rust or stain with water as ordinary steel does, but despite the name it is not fully stain-proof, most notably under low oxygen, high salinity, or poor circulation environments.

Joining Metals Carries a variety of stainless steel sheets and plates in 304 and 316. We can laser cut stainless steel up to 3/8" thick, we recommend nitrogen assisted laser cutting for better edge quality.

Aluminum

Aluminum is remarkable for the metal's low density and for its ability to resist corrosion. Structural components made from aluminum and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and are important in other areas of transportation and structural materials.

Joining Metals Carries a variety of aluminum sheets in 5052 and 6061. We can laser cut Aluminum up to 1/4" thick, we recommend nitrogen assisted laser cutting for better edge quality.

Coated Materials: Aluminized and Galvanized steel sheets
